gonna need to do 0.4.1, as well, but i have to fix #1561 first, which is a critical omission.

There is a PR for adding v0.4.0 to Homebrew here: Homebrew/homebrew-core#23253

(But as @sdboyer said, Homebrew soon needs to be updated for v0.4.1)

tbh i actually wouldn't mind just not putting v0.4.0 into homebrew at all, but i think that ship's sailed. no biggie.

No it hasn't :) The PR was closed without merging. I put a note in it, but it's the normal policy of the homebrew project to promote a new version unless it's been declared the latest release (https://github.com/golang/dep/releases/latest). Prevents them pushing out a version that is pre-release or has known bugs.
