Some things to fix:

  • if an entire post type is set to noindex in the backend, it shouldn't show up in the sitemap
  • post type archives should be included (possibly link the main header to them?)
  • when I have a CPT that exists but has no posts, and it has empty categories, I get stuff like this: http://uploads.yoast.nl/Screenshot_5_14_13_12_21_PM.png

Re: post type archives should be included (possibly link the main header to them?)

What format do you want the archives to be in, current I have it as monthly and with no actual post as leaf nodes as seen in the screenshot. Also which main header are you referring to?

A post type archive is for custom post types. Say I have a post type locations, with post type archives enabled, a single location would be:

/locations/test/

the post type archive would be at

/locations/

That's the one I'd like to include...

Ahh ok, so do you want the structure to be:
Archives

  • location (a link to /locations/)
  • movies (a link to /movies/)
  • another custom post type ( link to /cpt/)

yeah and then underneath locations you'd get the structure you have for each post type now... With categories or whatever taxonomy they use.
