SSH kitten not working with z/OS

Any suggestions how to manually set up bash integrations on remote server?

When I try to run the ssh kitten I get

❯ kitten ssh server.example.com
eval: FSUM7332 syntax error: got (, expecting }
Shared connection to server.example.com closed.

❯ kitten ssh --kitten interpreter=python server.example.com
�/�ǚ�%�>��������Ě��`��?>��>?Ȁ�?�>��Shared connection to server.example.com closed.

Unlike other UNIXes, z/OS UNIX is EBCDIC based which causes lots of troubles. But I do have bash 5.2 set up as my terminal and Python 3.12.5 installed. I think my best option is to set the integration manually.

Is there a way to make https://sw.kovidgoyal.net/kitty/shell-integration/#edit-files-in-new-kitty-windows-even-over-ssh work as well?

When I try edit-in-kitty I get an error

bash-5.2$ edit-in-kitty .profile
bash: kitten: command not found

You need to install the kitten static binary, I dont recall if it is compiled/works for this OS though.

What runtimes does it require?

I could try to compile it for the platform. I have C++, go, node, and python. That's about it.

it's a Go program. And it will be available if Go supports your platform already, if it doesnt you cant build it without first adding support for your platform to Go.

I do have go available on z/OS. Are there any instructions how to build the kitten static binary?

The go port for z/OS is made by IBM and not part of the official go distribution.
