mergeable_state stuck on blocked which causes gh pr merge to fail

UI shows the PR as able to merge with all the approvals and checks as satisfied. mergeable_state remains blocked.

Possibly worth noting that I did run gh pr merge when the PR actually was blocked by a repo ruleset so it's possible satisfying a ruleset isn't updating the field / clearing the cache as necessary.

EDIT1: This happened again. Force-pushing the branch may be causing this behavior.

I have yet to find a way to unstick the PR once it gets into this state so any amount of help would be appreciated.

EDIT2: And again. I think a reliable repro seems to be:

1. Push PR that fails checks
2. Force push fix to the PR branch
3. UI shows all green, API still shows blocked

Are you sure that you have the latest version of that repo maybe if you try to pull before you make a pr to get the latest updates it will work

Interesting suggestion but I'm not sure that's the case. The first time this happened, I updated my fork when a change occurred in the primary repo, rebased my PR branch, and force-pushed to update the PR. The mergeable_state remained in the blocked state.

Yeah, it ended up being an issue of missing grants on the gh cli auth token. Full thread here: cli/cli#9145
